The kids (read: characters) are jabbering up a storm, but as usual, they all have their own ideas about how things are going to play out... I normally let them have at it, and that is what I am doing this time, with a bit of gentle prodding and/or guidance here and there. This book, obviously, has a dual plot - one of them being the left over Miranda issues. As expected, she is dominating the field right now... So... I shall continue to hurl words in hopes that they make a little bit of sense.  Murv |

So... I ended up having a talk with the children... I explained that they were putting the cart before the horse and confusing their old and feeble transcriptionist (namely me)...
So, we appear to have thing straightened out now. I told them which part of the story I needed to hear right now and they said "Oh, okay, well it all started like this..."
Therefore, it seem like things should run just a bit smoother from here on out. I fully expect them to act up again - they always do - but at least they know what needs doing and what our deadline is, so that makes things a bit easier.
(Yeah, I know. I sound insane...)

No, you don't sound insane. But then when judged by me...
It does seem to me that the characters would take on a life of their own in your head. Each is discretely drawn, and I imagine if you decided to write that Ben was going to take up shuffleboard, the Ben in your head would pitch a fit. "Are you freakin' serious, white man!?!?!"
