Well on the whole of the new series, Bravo to Sci Fi for finally putting on a series thats actually looks like it has potential. Their series in the past have been ok, I am still a bit mad about no more "Mad Mad House" <only reality show I actually liked >
So with the hubby flipping back and forth from the Sci Fi and the playoff game, <had to see if NE Patriots were going to the superbowl> We watched Harry come to the little screen. All in all, promising. There were a few details that really ticked me off, small things like the shield bracelet Harry wears in his books comes from his mom, rather then the silver pentagram. His beloved VW bug has been replaced with a Jeep. I quess "real men" don't drive bugs in Hollywood.
I am curious to see where they are going to go with this and I have to say I will watch again next sunday night, I just hope they do with Harry and friends.
I just sincerely hope M.R. that if you are ever fortunate to sell your books to the small or the big screen. I really really really hope that you able to keep enough control to stop those annoying changes. Can you imagine a Tall blonde real estate broker Felicity? <shudder>
Yeah, unfortunately they like to leave their fingerprint on things. Just like what they did with Lucas Davenport when they made one of John Sandford's "Prey" novels into a TV movie. I can understand where certain things in books don't translate well to screen and need to be changed or left out, however, the movie people do tend to go a bit overboard most of the time. All in the name of how "they" think it should be, as opposed to how it actually is.

I really enjoyed the Harry Dresden TV show! Sure, at first I was terribly put out that Harry didn't have long hair, and Murphy wasn't a Karrin or tiny or blonde, and that Bob had a body. But, once I realized that it was merely "based on the Harry Dresden Files" I let go of those annoyances and started watching the show for what it is. And it's very enjoyable, well-acted, and at times funny. Plus, it means that an author I enjoy is getting even more acclaim. How many new readers were spawned (heh) by watching the TV show, do you think?
Now, we must make this happen for our favorite author. A favorite author who needs to write more, I might add.
